Closing Weekend at Deer Valley Resort

Wow! What a closing weekend it was with 27 inches of new snow over the weekend, nobody here, and the most incredible ski conditions. Woke up Friday morning with 15 inches of new snow, then Sunday (closing day), 4 inches of classic Utah "cold smoke." For those of you who are not familiar with this term, it's when snow is so light and dry that you don't even feel it. It's like having smoke on the mountain. That is what Utah is known and famous for: the lightest and driest powder in the country.

So Sunday I was on the first chair, skied until 12:30, and then like most of the country was glued to the TV watching an incredible finish to The Masters Golf Tournament. With the incredible ski conditions and equally incredible finish to The Masters, I just couldn't imagine a better closing day. I would like to say it's now on to golf season but with several feet of snow still on the golf course at my house, it's going to be quite a while before the Park City courses open. I would also like to say now with ski season over, there's no need for it to snow any more; but fat chance of that happening. It's now mud season. Time to travel and prepare for summer.

As of now, real estate sales still strong in town, but I expect sales activity will start to slow down through out the remainder of April and into May. Our March sales numbers come out on April 15, so as promised, I will have a December-March recap of the season next Monday. Until then, I hope you're enjoying your spring, and come back next week for the year-end recap.
